COMBATING HOLIDAY BULGE
The choices you make each day can lead to a healthier lifestyle. Eating right & exercising can make you feel good about yourself & reduce the risk of serious illness. Maintaining a health body weight is important to your overall well-being.
Drink plenty of water – 6 to 8 glasses each day
Exercise at least 3 times a week – start by walking 15 minutes each time
Eat smaller portions more often during the day to help control your feelings of huger & decrease the total amount of food you eat
Eat less red meat & more white meat (broiled chicken breasts instead of hamburgers)
Snack on crunchy fruits & vegetables (carrots, celery, apples, broccoli) or low fat crackers & rice cakes
Control “sweet” cravings by eating fruit (grapes, peaches, berries, melon)
Stay away from fast food & fatty/greasy foods
Avoid sugars and starches (cakes, cookies, pasta) & high fat foods (French fries, ice cream)
ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS – EAT SENSIBLY |
